Bar-B-Q Jam 3, 09/09/2013
Well this is more personnel than professional but I thought
I would share a bit. Every year my dear friend and “brother from another
mother” Ray Cookie and I host a good old fashioned backyard Bar-B-Q for our
friends whom just happen to be some of the best local musicians in Metro
Detroit.
Now you know me as a photographer but another passion of mine is music and I have played guitar in local bands around Detroit since I was a kid. I was actually playing guitar in a wedding band when I was seventeen when I decided I wanted to be a wedding photographer, by the time I was nineteen I was photographing weddings instead of playing in the band.
These photographs are interesting because when the band was setting up in a garage I hung my old painted backgrounds along the back of the set and then lit the musicians with seven separate flash units all fired via radio slaves, bringing a unique look that you could never achieve using available light or a simple flash on the camera.
